Asphalt Millings

What asphalt millings are

Millings are old asphalt that has been ground up and reused. When we spread them, grade them and roll them, the pieces pack together into a firm, dark surface.

They are a good fit for long drives, farm lanes, back lots and equipment areas where full paving is more than you need. You see them on many farms and rural drives out in western Monmouth County.

How it works

3 simple steps

  1. Step 1

    Request your free quote

Call or send the form. We look at the area, the slope and the drainage, and give you a free written quote.

  2. Step 2

    We grade, spread and roll

We shape the base for drainage, spread the millings evenly and compact them with a roller so they lock together.

  3. Step 3

    A firm, neat surface

You get a dark, solid drive or lane that handles cars, trucks and equipment.

Problems it fixes

Problems millings solve

Muddy dirt lanes

Dirt drives turn to mud every spring and after every heavy rain.

Gravel that scatters

Loose stone gets kicked into the lawn and pushed off by the plow every winter.

Dust on dry days

Dirt and fine gravel kick up dust that coats cars, porches and barns.

Big area, tight budget

Paving a long lane or large lot can cost more than you want to spend. Millings give you a firm surface for less.

Benefits

Why choose asphalt millings

Lower cost than paving

A firm surface for long drives and big areas without the cost of new asphalt.

Recycled material

Millings put old asphalt back to work instead of in a landfill.

Firmer than gravel

Rolled millings pack together and stay put better than loose stone.

Less dust

Fewer clouds of dust on dry summer days.

Easy to add to

You can top up or regrade later without starting over.

Dark, clean look

Millings look more like pavement than plain gravel does.

FAQ

Asphalt Millings questions

Still have questions? Call (908) 720-2444. We pick up.

Are millings as good as asphalt paving?+

No, and we will not tell you they are. Millings are firmer than gravel and cost less than paving, but they are not as smooth or as tight as new asphalt. For many lanes and back lots, they are the right choice.

Do millings harden over time?+

They pack down and get firmer with traffic and warm weather. Good grading and rolling at the start makes the biggest difference.

Can you pave over millings later?+

Often, yes, if the base is solid and graded well. We will look at it and tell you.

How much do asphalt millings cost?+

It depends on the size of the area, the base work needed and access for trucks. Your quote is free and written.
