Crack Filling

What crack filling is

Crack filling means cleaning out the cracks in your asphalt and sealing them with a flexible filler. The filler bonds to the edges and moves with the pavement as it warms and cools.

It is one of the lowest cost ways to protect asphalt that is still in decent shape. In New Jersey, water gets into open cracks, freezes, and pushes them wider every winter. Sealing them early stops that cycle.

  2. Step 2

We clean and fill each crack

    Water stays out

Your cracks are sealed, your base stays dry, and small problems stay small.

Problems it fixes

Problems crack filling stops

Freeze and thaw damage

Water in a crack freezes, expands and breaks the edges. Each winter in central New Jersey, the crack gets wider.

Potholes in the making

Open cracks let water reach the base. The base softens and the surface caves in.

Weeds and roots

Grass and weeds grow up through cracks and pry them open. Tree roots can push from below too.

Spreading web cracks

Single cracks left open can branch into a web pattern called alligator cracking. That means bigger repairs. Sealing early helps prevent it.

Benefits

Why choose crack filling

Low cost protection

Filling cracks costs far less than patching potholes or repaving.

Protects the base

Keeping water out keeps the stone base under your asphalt firm.

Fewer potholes

Sealed cracks cannot let in the water that starts most potholes.

Longer pavement life

Small fixes now help your asphalt last more seasons.

Neater look

Sealed cracks look cleaner and keep weeds from growing through.

Ready for sealcoating

Filled cracks give a smooth start for a fresh seal coat.

FAQ

Crack Filling questions

Still have questions? Call (908) 720-2444. We pick up.

When is the best time to fill cracks?+

Spring and fall are good times, before summer heat or the winter freeze. Dry weather matters most.

Will the cracks come back?+

Filled cracks stay sealed, but asphalt keeps aging and new cracks can form. It is smart to check your pavement every year or two and touch up as needed.

Can crack filler fix alligator cracking?+

Not for long. Web-like cracks often mean the base underneath is failing. That spot usually needs to be cut out and patched. We will tell you which fix fits.

How much does crack filling cost?+

It depends on how many cracks there are, how wide they are and the size of the area. Your quote is free and written before any work starts.
